Semi-truck crosses the center line, hits van head-on

Many Tennessee drivers feel a little apprehensive about driving around semi-trucks, and for good reason. The massive size of a tractor-trailer makes them extremely dangerous and destructive when a truck accident occurs. A vehicle that may have received minor damage in a car-on-car accident may be completely totaled in a semi-truck-on-car wreck. Also, and more importantly, those who are involved in a tractor-trailer crash may be more likely to receive serious injuries or die.

Knoxville hit-and-run kills father of four

A Knoxville man was recently killed when he was struck by a car while he was crossing the intersection. The driver fled the scene, but was later found, arrested, and charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident. The victim, a 65-year old immigrant from the Congo, leaves four children behind, aged 9 to 20. The deceased was the children's only remaining parent and he was the primary caregiver for his handicapped daughter. Thus, the negligent driver who killed this man has drastically affected this family forever.

Negligent driver fails to yield, slams into another vehicle

For those Tennesseans who have been behind the wheel for years, a routine drive can sometimes be monotonous and mindless. These drivers go when the light turns green without thinking and stop at a stop sign without really registering to look both ways before continuing through the intersection. Though this type of driving can happen often and may not always result in an accident, sometimes it can cause a serious car wreck that leaves people injured.

Driver in truck accident that injured THP trooper likely impaired

Semi-trucks can be extremely dangerous if not operated with care. Unfortunately, one Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper had to find out first-hand just how dangerous these vehicles can be when a negligent driver is behind the wheel. The trooper was parked on the shoulder of an interstate when a truck slammed into his vehicle. The trooper suffered a fractured vertebra, a fractured rib, and arm injuries. The truck driver fled the scene, but was later found at a service station. Police believe the driver was under the influence of prescription pills at the time of the accident. He was arrested and now faces several charges.
