Knoxville pedestrian struck by car while crossing the street

Knoxville is a pedestrian friendly city. Many choose to walk to work, school, or the grocery store while many others do so out of necessity. With so many people walking along the roads and crossing in intersections it is important drivers remain aware of them. When one takes his eyes off the road for a split second or drives while intoxicated he can cause a serious pedestrian car wreck.

A Knoxville man is now, unfortunately, all too aware of the dangers posed by inattentive drivers. While attempting to cross Broadway in the late morning, the man was hit by a car. The victim was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening. Though the driver has not been charged in the accident, it does not mean he or she will not be charged nor that he or she is free from liability.

If the victim of a car accident chooses, he can seek to impose liability on the negligent driver. To attain such a ruling the victim must prove the driver was actually negligent and that negligence led to the victim's injuries. In a pedestrian accident, this may mean showing a failure to yield, speeding or intoxication.

A case that succeeds against a distracted driver might lead to the recovery of compensation. These awards are intended to help the victim reach a full physical, emotional, and financial recovery, meaning medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages may be compensated for.

A Knoxville accident attorney can maximize a victim's chance for success. So, when all seems hopeless and decisions are too complicated to make, consulting with an attorney may be the best way to clarify the circumstances and understand likelihood of success. Then, after all is said and done, the victim can move on with the life he had before the accident.
