Bicycle rider injured in Knoxville accident

Knoxville, like any other city, should be a safe place for people to ride their bikes. And many in Knoxville do ride their bikes. Some ride for joy while others use it as their sole mode of transportations. Though biking should be just as safe as driving a car, it often is not, as a distracted or negligent driver can cause a serious car wreck in a matter of moments. A seemingly minor bump that may cause minimal damage to another vehicle can decimate a bike, severely injuring or even killing its rider.

One of these incidents happened recently in Knoxville, sending a biker to the hospital. The driver who struck the bike failed to stop, and police are still searching for the individual responsible for the accident. Though this accident happened in the blink of an eye, the effects of such an accident could last a lifetime.

A bicycle accident caused by a motor vehicle can be devastating. The victim may be forced to endure excessive physical and emotional pain and suffering, incur medical expenses, and be rendered unable to work. In addition, a bicycle rider who is injured in one of these crashes may be too afraid to ride his or her bike again, thus stripping him or her of a once loved and/or much needed mode of transportation.

In an effort to recoup some of these losses, an injured individual can file a personal injury lawsuit against the individual who caused the accident. In the case of a hit-and-run, the suspect must first be found. But once he or she is found then a lawsuit can be filed. A Knoxville attorney can help file the necessary documents in addition to developing the strongest case possible.

By gathering evidence to prove negligence, an attorney will place the victim in the best position possible to recover his or her damages. If a case is won at trial or settled before hand, then the victim may obtain compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, and pain and suffering, thereby aiding him or her on healing and getting his or her life back on track.
