Head-on motorcycle crash injures five in Tennessee

A recent motorcycle crash left five people injured, four of them critically hurt. Authorities say a car crossed the center line and slammed into head-on into an oncoming motorcycle. The car then sideswiped another motorcycle. The crash remains under investigation, but criminal charges may be brought against the car's driver.

An accident like this is tragic not only because so many people were hurt, but also because it was completely preventable. Motorists can often avoid causing devastating accidents by remaining sober and attentive behind the wheel and obeying all traffic laws. Unfortunately, though, many drivers fail to exercise motorcycle awareness, and therefore fail to properly yield the right of way or turn into bike riders.

In these instances, victims and their families can feel overwhelmed, and understandably so. They often have to deal with agonizing pain caused by broken bones, physical disability resulting from a head injury, depression caused by their new circumstances, and financial trouble unfairly thrust upon them in the form of medical expenses and wages lost due to an inability to work. These factors often become too much for victims and their families, leaving them looking for help.

A Knoxville attorney, fortunately, can help an accident victim take legal action against the negligent driver who harmed him or her. By filing a lawsuit, a victim may be able to relieve his or her stressors by recovering compensation. If negligence can be shown to have caused the victim's injuries, then awards may be given to help the victim cover his or her medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Also, a legal claim holds a negligent driver accountable for his or her actions, providing the victim with a sense of justice.
