Rear-end car accident kills two on Tennessee's I-40

Driving on Tennessee's Interstates can be dangerous. Increased traffic and higher speed limits on these roadways can cause multiple-vehicle accidents that result in catastrophic injuries and death. These tragic accidents are even more likely to occur when motorists act negligently or distractedly behind the wheel. This includes being intoxicated, inattentive or disobeying traffic laws.

Many of Knoxville's residents may have heard about two recent, related accidents on I-40, involving six vehicles. The first wreck occurred on an off ramp when a semi-truck rear-ended a car, sending it smashing into the SUV in front of it. The driver of the rear-ended car and his passenger were killed in the accident. A second accident, believed to have been caused by the first, occurred nearby, when another big rig rear-ended another car, causing the car to slam into a sidewall and then another tractor trailer. One person was taken to the hospital with injuries suffered in that second accident. No criminal charges have yet been filed.

Losing a loved one to a tragic car accident can be soul-crushing. A family may be left without the emotional support it deserves, the bread-winner it needs and the loving spirit to which it had grown accustomed. These losses can become overwhelming and may make it difficult to operate on a day-to-day basis. But help can be found to help a family find some closure and it can hopefully leave them in a position where monetary loss is not a concern.

The best way to do this is to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent driver who caused the accident. A local attorney can help gather facts surrounding a fatal accident and work to craft a case that shows the negligence of another caused the victim's death. If a jury agrees, then compensation may be awarded to the victim's family for pain and suffering, medical expenses and lost wages. These awards will hopefully allow those facing the loss of a loved one to find comfort, closure and a feeling that they can move on in life in remembrance of their lost loved one.
