Errant driver causes fatal car accident in Knoxville

Tennesseans can go nearly their entire life without being in a serious car accident. Yet, it only takes one time for a car accident to forever change one's life. A wreck can turn out to be fatal, leaving the deceased's surviving family struggling to cope emotionally and financially. These family members may find it difficult to move forward with life, and they may not know where to turn for help.

This very well may be the position of a Knox County family after a longtime teacher and coach was killed in a fatal car accident. According to reports, the victim was riding in an SUV when it was struck by another SUV. Police state that the driver who struck the vehicle that the deceased was riding in was trying to make a U-turn, but the driver missed the center turn lane and drove into oncoming traffic. The victim was taken to the hospital, but he later passed from his injuries.

Instances like this are heart breaking. Far too often, innocent people are taken from their families without any notice. Making matters worse, many times, these families are left with extensive medical expenses, funeral costs and they have to find a way to pay the bills at a time when their loved one's wages have disappeared. This is on top of the emotional turmoil they will likely face.

Though a family may not want to think about taking legal action after the loss of a loved one, filing a wrongful death lawsuit may be beneficial. If a surviving family can prove to a court that their lost loved one's death was caused by another's negligence, then they may be able to recover compensation. Though it cannot bring their loved one back, it might provide them with the resources they need to find financial stability and focus on their lives moving forward.
