Car accident over the weekend kills three, injures one

It's easy to take driving and our ability to handle driving situations for granted, but for a 23-year-old man, speed combined with a curvy road, may have led to a fatal accident that killed him and two other passengers in his car.

The accident occurred Sunday on Back Valley Road in Dayton, Tennessee. According to the accident report, the man was driving along when it appears that he lost control of his vehicle and broadsided a brick mailbox.

A 17-year-old boy, a 3-year-old boy and the driver died instantly. An 8-month-old baby was pulled from the wreckage by a bystander at the scene who had witnessed the accident. The child was airlifted to a local hospital where his condition is unknown. The jaws of life were used to extract the other victims from the car.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol believes that speed was a factor. Speed limit signs in the area recommend a 45 mph limit, while curves are marked at 15 mph. Investigators at the scene believe that sometimes people don't realize how fast they are going and how sharp the curves are and it is easy to lose control.

The driver of the vehicle is being tested to see if drugs or alcohol were in his system at the time of the crash, but investigators believe that speed was the main contributing factor in this crash.

This accident is a tragic example of how speed can factor into a car accident. If you are involved in an accident where you were injured because of the negligence of another driver, it is important that you speak with a personal injury attorney. They understand the strains that you could be dealing with in regards to the accident and will work with you to determine your options to get you the compensation that you deserve.
