Juvenile causes fiery crash, sending several to hospital

The Tennessee Highway Patrol cited a juvenile for driving left of center after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a car accident.

According to police, the juvenile's car crossed the center line, side-swiped an oncoming vehicle, then ran head-on into a third car. The impact caused the third vehicle to flip and catch on fire.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were unharmed, but the driver of the third vehicle and her two passengers were taken to the hospital. The juvenile was also hospitalized.

In situations like this, car accident victims look for some form of justice, but sometimes the criminal process provides little relief. However, when medical expenses soar as the result of an accident caused by another, victims can use the civil system to find compensation.

Car accident victims often need to recover large amounts to recoup medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. Victims should seek recovery from all responsible parties involved in the accident. This can include seeking compensation from the driver responsible for the accident or his insurance company, or pursuing a trial if the driver or insurance company refuses to pay adequate compensation. An experienced attorney can help car accident victims understand their rights and options.

No matter the safety precautions taken, none of us are truly safe on the road. For this reason, it is important that the law provides an outlet to ease the pain and expenses suffered by those of us who drive safely, yet fall victim to errant drivers.
