4-vehicle accident leaves 1 injured, closes interstate

Accident severity runs the gamut from minor fender-benders with no injuries to the devastating multi-car pile-ups where fatalities abound. Fatal accidents caused by negligent drivers call for legal action. But there may be grounds for a lawsuit in a car accident that results in only minor injuries and vehicle damage. One example of such a crash happened recently in Tennessee.

The accident involved three passenger vehicles and a semi-truck and left a portion of I-75 shut down for some time. Though the accident was severe enough to shut down the interstate, only one person suffered minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation.

In instances like this, legal action may still be beneficial. A personal injury resulting from an accident, no matter how minor, may require immediate medical attention, whether given by paramedics at the accident scene or doctors at a hospital. This help results in medical expenses, and it would not be fair for an innocent driver to have to pay for it when the injury was caused by a negligent driver.

If a car accident is more serious, legal action can help victims recover compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages. In order to file such a lawsuit, a victim must prove that the individual responsible for the wreck was driving negligently and that it was the driver's negligence that caused the crash and, therefore, the victim's injuries.

While not all accidents are life-threatening, they nonetheless can be serious. They can impose medical expenses and leave victims in emotional turmoil. A civil lawsuit, however, may be able to help ease these pains.
