Tennessee man killed when rear-ended by semi-truck

Semi-trucks play a vital role in our economy by quickly moving goods across the region or the country. Yet, these massive vehicles, when improperly driven, can pose a serious threat to other motorists, including those in Tennessee. A speeding truck, one that fails to stop or yield, or one that swerves into oncoming traffic can cause a deadly tractor-trailer crash.

One Tennessee family may now be dealing with the consequences of such a truck accident. In Carroll County, a man was killed after his vehicle was rear-ended by a tractor trailer. Reports indicate the victim's car, after being struck by the truck, spun off the highway. Though it is unclear at this time if any charges will be levied against the truck driver, the deceased's surviving family may be entitled to compensation.

Truck drivers, like every other driver, must operate their vehicles in a safe fashion. If they fail to do so and cause an accident, whether by driving too fast or following too closely, then they may be held liable. When a family loses a loved one to such an accident, they may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck company, the truck owner and the truck driver. A competent Knoxville attorney can help a surviving family assess their legal options and can fight for what the family deserves.

If negligence can be proven to have caused an individual's injuries or death, then compensation may be obtained. Though these awards may not bring a loved one back or allow one to fully recover from a disability, they can help the injured individual or his surviving family pay off unexpected debt and aid them in their attempt to move on with life. Medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering may all be compensated for.

A tractor-trailer crash can have devastating consequences. Individuals who are harmed and families who lose a loved one to distracted, drunk or otherwise negligent driving should act on their legal rights in an attempt to attain what they deserve. A lawyer may be the tipping point in winning that battle.
