Tennessee soldier killed by drunk driver in hit-and-run accident

The loss of a loved one can be heart-wrenching, no matter how it occurs. Yet, when one's life is stripped away early by the negligence of another, the pain can be immense. The deceased's surviving family might have difficulty moving past the accident, constantly reliving their last moments with their lost loved one and imagining the pain and suffering he or she might have gone through before passing. One Tennessee family may be dealing with this excruciating pain now.

An east Tennessee soldier was recently hit and killed by another soldier. Initial reports indicate the victim was walking down a roadway when the other soldier's vehicle struck him. The victim was found dead in the early morning hours. The other soldier's vehicle was later found nearby with fresh damage, which the soldier claims was from hitting a deer. Police arrested the driver and charged him with vehicular homicide and DUI, amongst other charges.

In addition to the overwhelming emotional pain caused by such a tragic car accident, a victim's family may also struggle to deal with the financial aspects of losing a loved one. Medical expenses, funeral costs and lost wages may all drastically impact the family, making it difficult to afford accumulated bills.

Luckily, these families can seek relief through a wrongful death lawsuit. To win one of these cases and obtain compensation, the victim's family must show the negligent driver was in fact negligent, and that negligence caused the fatal accident. If these elements are adequately proven, then compensation may be recoverable. Awards may help the family pay funeral expenses and medical expenses, and it may help relieve pain and suffering.

Dealing with legalities can be difficult during a time of mourning. Therefore, it may be beneficial to seek the help of an experienced Knoxville attorney. With a passion for helping those who have been wronged, the attorney will boldly fight for what the family deserves.
