Negligent driver kills one in Knoxville head-on collision

Some accidents occur so quickly that it is impossible for safe drivers to take measures to avoid the errant drivers who cause them. In instances like this, a motorist can be taken completely off guard and, as a result, may suffer severe injuries or death. The chances of a fatal accident occurring may rise when the wreck is one that involves high speed and a head-on collision.

One of these wrecks happened recently in Knoxville after a delivery van collided with a Scion on Middlebrook Pike. According to police, the van appears to have been driving east in the westbound lanes when the car accident occurred. The driver of the Scion was killed while the van's driver was taken to the hospital with injuries. Though police do not think alcohol was a factor in the accident, the van's driver is still likely liable for the deceased's death.

The loss of a loved one in a car accident is unexpected, often emotionally painful and, though families often do not want to think about it during such an emotional time, financially devastating. These families, in addition to having to cope with the thought of never being able to see or hear their loved one again, must find a way to pay the victim's medical expenses, funeral expenses, and cover any of the victim's lost wages. Failing to do so may result in extreme economic hardship.

To relieve the financial pressure unexpectedly and undeservedly thrust upon them, a family can file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent driver who caused the accident. An attorney with years of experience may be best fitted to handle the case, working for the family to convince a jury that the negligence of another caused the deceased's death.

When one of these claims succeeds, the family may be awarded damages. This compensation can help cover the economic losses mentioned above as well as comfort pain and suffering. Hopefully these awards will allow a family to pay their bills, obtain closure, and feel as if their lost loved one's rights were upheld.
