Stranded motorist injured in Knoxville car wreck

Almost everyone has experienced car trouble at one time or another. Whether it's a flat tire, an empty gas tank, or engine trouble, Tennesseans often find themselves stranded on the roadside. As if these situations' annoyance is not enough, they can also be extremely dangerous. Speeding cars can pass mere inches away from an unprotected individual who is working on his or her car and, in some cases, these stranded individuals are struck.

That was the case recently in one Knoxville accident. The victim and his fiancé had run out of gas and were thus stopped. An individual in a truck saw the couple and stopped to help. However, as the victim was outside of his vehicle, a third car slammed into the back of the truck, causing it to pin the victim between the truck and his own car. The victim was subsequently rushed to the hospital with serious injuries to his legs. The errant driver of the third car was taken into custody and charged with several offenses, including careless driving.

Drivers have a duty to be aware of other, stranded motorists and avoid acting negligently in a way that will cause those stranded motorists harm. Unfortunately, as evidenced by the case above, this duty is sometimes breached, and victims can be left with serious, sometimes life-altering, injuries. When this is the case, a victim can face a challenging physical, emotional and financial recovery.

In an effort to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering, car wreck victims can file a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent driver who caused the injurious accident. A Knoxville attorney can help these victims put forth the best evidence available to support a finding of neglect, which may allow the victim to recover maximum compensation from a negligent or distracted driver. Hopefully such recoveries will allow the victim to get the medical help he or she needs while assisting him or her with moving on with life with financial stability.
