Costner & Greene: advocates for motorcycle accident victims

Last week on the blog we discussed motorcycle awareness. Having knowledgeable and aware motorists on the road is crucial for the safety and well-being of all, including motorcyclists. Yet, despite valiant efforts to stub out motorcycle awareness and negligent driving, many Tennesseans continue to operate their vehicles that put others in danger. Far too often, this leads to devastating accidents that can have long-term effects on the victim and his or her family.

Texting and driving still threatens Tennessee motorists

Spring appears to have arrived early in Tennessee, causing many to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather. However, with a change of seasons comes changes with activities which can give rise to a whole new set of risks. For motorcyclists, this means the risk of being injured or even killed in a motorcycle accident. Fortunately, federal, state and local agencies recognize the dangers of motorcycle wrecks as well as their prevalence, and have initiated action to find a way to curtail them.

Texting and driving still threatens Tennessee motorists

Tennessee's roadways are dangerous places. Though the weather, poorly designed and maintained roads and even animals can add to the danger, perhaps no other factor poses more risk than other drivers. Far too many of Tennessee's motorists are negligent behind the wheel, and this negligence can take many forms. Mere talking can lead to distraction and an increased risk of an accident, as can changing the radio and eating while driving. Drunk driving, of course, posing a significant threat, too. But one risky behavior seems to be gaining in commonality: texting and driving.

How does the appeals process work?

Being in a car accident can be stressful, and the pressure can mount when an individual suffers injuries as a result. Medical expenses, lost wages and physical and emotional pain and suffering can be overwhelming, leaving a car accident victim with financial uncertainty and, perhaps, concerns about his or her long-term health and well-being. Those who find themselves in this situation may be able to recover their losses via a personal injury lawsuit, provided that he or she successfully shows that his or her damages were caused by the defendant's negligence.
